The Borough Council of King's Lynn and West Norfolk's Petition Scheme was agreed by full Council in June 2010 in response to the duty introduced by the Local Government, Economic Development and Construction Act 2009, which requires councils to respond to petitions.
The Borough Council welcomes petitions as we recognise that petitions are one way in which people can let us know their concerns.
A petition requires 250 signatures to become valid and require a response from the Borough Council. A petition with 2500 signatures or more will require a senior officer attending one of the Council's Panel meetings to discuss the issue and a petition with over 5000 signatures will trigger a debate on the petition at full Council.
