Free support for employers to give their staff a BOOST

Boost at The Place 23 May 2023

Published: Wednesday, 17th May 2023

King's Lynn based businesses employing 18-30 year-old members of staff, are being urged to drop into a free session at The Place in King's Lynn to find out how Boost can help them.

Boost is a Town Deal funded project offering grants for training to help young people in King’s Lynn gain new skills.

The Boost team will be based at The Place, New Conduit Street King's Lynn on Tuesday, 23 May 2023 from 10am to 2pm. It's a drop-in session so no need to book. The team can help with advice about training and funding available to help employers boost the development of their own staff.

Lisa Taylor, Skills Partnership Project Manager, said:

"We are already helping local businesses to train their staff, and the feedback we've been getting confirms that the service we provide, and the unique approach we take, can really give them a boost. It supports young people to grow and develop and it helps ensure that employers have employees that have the skills they need."

Arbortec Forestwear is a local niche manufacturer of chainsaw protective clothing and apparel. Through their strategic plans, they’d identified a need to develop their staff but were concerned about the cost. Boost was able to help them fund some of that training, helping employees attend a variety of courses from management to marketing and even forklift truck driving.

Bibiana Manson, Head of HR at Arbortec Forestwear, said:

"The way the support is provided is brilliant, there are not a lot of hoops to jump through and the process is straightforward. It helps me as a HR professional to concentrate on things which help the business grow rather than spending hours sieving through lots of forms. From our point of view, this scheme is brilliant... it helps young people to grow and stay employed."

To find out how Boost can help you, drop into The Place on 23rd May, between 10am and 2pm, or drop the team an email at boost@norfolk.gov.uk to arrange a chat.
