The COVID Omicron grant has been extended to include additional businesses but must close this Friday, 18 March 2022.
Originally offered to the hospitality and leisure sector, now personal care businesses, certain supply chain businesses to those adversely affected by the Omicron variant and taxi drivers who have been impacted by cancellations due to the Omicron variant can apply for a one-off payment of £500.
Councillor Stuart Dark MBE, Leader of the borough council, said: “The council has a fantastic track record in proactively supporting businesses through the pandemic – we have already paid out more than 17,500 grants with a value of nearly £78million, and our total support to businesses is now over £80m. This is another example of how we have used the funding available to maximum effect in order to meet local needs.
“We still have some funding available and have listened to the concern of taxi drivers so have now extended this scheme beyond its original scope to include personal care businesses, certain supply chain businesses and taxi drivers. We want as many to apply as possible but we cannot extend the closing date for applications, which is this Friday.”

Applications close on 18 March and payments will be made by 31 March. Applicants must supply evidence of the financial impact Omicron has had on them, and applications will be subject to pre-payment checks.
