Many village halls and small sports clubs could be missing out on a grant of £10,000 because they didn't realise they were eligible.
The council is urging those who are responsible for halls and clubs to check whether they can claim.
In March 2020 the government announced certain businesses, including leisure organisations, would be able to claim a grant of £10,000 from their local council to help with the impact of Covid-19.
The grants were launched on 31 March 2020 and since then the council has paid grants of over £36.725 million to 3,161 organisations.
Cllr Stuart Dark, Cabinet Member for Emergency Planning and Covid-19 response, said: "The £10,000 grants are available to village halls and small sports clubs on the business rates list. The take up for these organisations has been low and there are still a number of grants left to be claimed. The council has been proactively contacting people to encourage them to apply for the grant. If you are responsible for a village hall or small sports club, or know someone who is, please check whether you can claim or encourage them to check."
Claiming the grant is easy. Complete the online eligibility checker available on the borough council's website at www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/covid19grant. If eligible, upload a copy of a bank statement to confirm the account details where the grant should be paid. The council will then check the claim and aim to process the application within a week.
