James Bagge, the former High Sheriff of Norfolk, has been announced as the Ambassador for the Love West Norfolk campaign.

James, who was High Sheriff from 2017-2018, will act as the figurehead and spokesperson for Love West Norfolk, and will help to promote and celebrate West Norfolk through the campaign.

Of his appointment as Love West Norfolk Ambassador, James, who has a home in Stradsett, said: “I cannot think of any appointment I would rather be offered! I am thrilled to be the Ambassador for this inspiring initiative to promote our beloved West Norfolk.”

James previously lent his support to the campaign when it launched in 2017, sharing why he loves West Norfolk. At the time James said: “Born, bred and brought up in West Norfolk. Love the accent, love the people, love the life in West Norfolk. Where else do you have better skies? Where else do the trees so adorn the horizon? Why else would my family have stayed for 800 years or more?”

Now, James is urging people to get involved in the campaign, and particularly, Love West Norfolk Day which will take place on 14 February.

The day will be an opportunity for people who love West Norfolk to shout about the area and campaign organisers will shortly be sharing information and resources to get involved. But, one of the easiest ways that people can join in is by sharing why they love West Norfolk on social media using the hashtag #lovewestnorfolk.

James commented: “This is our chance to tell the world how much we all love our own West Norfolk, its history, its people, its culture. Go for it! It’s a special part of the world and one to be proud of.”

As well as being High Sheriff, James also raised around £73k in funds for Norfolk’s unpaid carers by undertaking an incredible 1,500 walking pilgrimage to Santiago in Spain.

Councillor Brian Long, Leader of the Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk, one of the partners behind the Love West Norfolk campaign said: “We are thrilled that James has lent his support to the campaign and has agreed to be our ambassador.

“As the former High Sheriff, and through his charity works, James has done so much for Norfolk as a whole and of course West Norfolk and we are so grateful to have his involvement. We are sure that he will inspire even more people to love West Norfolk, and help us to celebrate and promote this fantastic part of the world.”
