Waste & recycling collections
The festive season is the busiest time of the year for domestic waste, recycling and food caddy collections.
Earlier this month Christmas waste and recycling calendars were delivered to households containing details of changed collection dates over Christmastime and New Year. If you didn’t receive one, all bin collection details are available online at west-norfolk.gov.uk, click on view your bin collection dates.
Cllr Ian Devereux, borough council cabinet member for the environment, said: “Christmas and New Year is a time when many of us buy more food than we need. Having signed the Courtauld Commitment, aimed at reducing food and drink waste, I would encourage residents to plan ahead and try not to buy more than you really need. This saves money and is good for the environment.”

Christmas is also a time when many have a clear out of old but useful items that they no longer want. These can be taken to many charity shops in the borough rather than being thrown away.
Councillor Devereux added: "Many items that people throw away are still useful. For example retro clothing and up-cycled furniture is very much in demand these days, and toys and books are always popular. By giving them to charity, money can be raised to provide vital support to a whole range of people in the community.”
