Mayor launches west Norfolk poppy appeals

Cllr Geoff Hipperson, the Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, along with Cllr Margaret Wilkinson, Deputy Mayor launched two poppy appeal campaigns on Saturday 26 October 2019.

Saturday 26 October - 10:30am at St Mary's Church, Heacham

The mayor, Cllr Geoff Hipperson, and deputy mayor, Cllr Margaret Wilkinson attended with representatives from the Royal British Legion Heacham branch.

Saturday 26 October - 1:15pm at All Saints Church, Hillington Square, King's Lynn

The mayor, Cllr Geoff Hipperson, and deputy mayor, Cllr Margaret Wilkinson attended in full robes with the sword and mace bearers. They were joined by the Rev Canon Fr Adrian Ling for this event celebrating All Saints Day and the launch of the annual poppy appeal.

About the events

Heacham Memorial, in the grounds of St Mary’s Church, Heacham, hosted the first event. The mayor and deputy mayor were joined by representatives from the Royal British Legion Heacham branch to launch the local poppy appeal.

On Saturday afternoon, after mass, All Saints Church in Hillington Square, King’s Lynn, were celebrating All Saints Day and launched the King's Lynn poppy appeal. 

Cllr Geoff Hipperson, the mayor, said: “I am committed to getting out into the borough throughout my term in office, so I have decided to launch this year’s poppy appeal at both St Mary’s Church Heacham and All Saints Church in King's Lynn. I will be accompanied at both events by my deputy, Cllr Margaret Wilkinson. I encourage everyone to support this year’s appeal. Contribute what you can afford and wear your poppies with pride.”
