Residents and stakeholders are being invited to have their say on the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk's Council Tax Support scheme.
The scheme helps people on a low income with the cost of their council tax bill, and each year the council has to publish and consult on its proposed scheme for the coming year.
The draft 2020/21 scheme has now been agreed and published for consultation on our website at https://www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/ctsconsultation.
Cllr Adrian Lawrence, borough council cabinet member for Housing, explained: "The overall Council Tax Support scheme is the same as last year although we will have to make some minor technical changes to reflect welfare reform changes. I would encourage people to take this opportunity to review our proposals and let us know what they think. Once the consultation closes on 14 November, we will consider all the responses received before finalising the scheme ready for 1 April 2020."
The following changes are proposed for the 2020/21 Council Tax Support scheme:
- Disregarding any income from the Windrush Compensation scheme, and
- Disregarding any lump sum payments from the Windrush Compensation scheme
The consultation is open until Thursday 14 November 2019. All the information is available on our website https://www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/ctsconsultation along with an online survey for completion. Anyone wishing to take part in the survey who does not have access to the internet should call the council's main number 01553 616200 to be given information and the survey in a printed format.
