Students from the Czech Republic welcomed to King’s Lynn

Students from Jicin with the Mayor.

50 students from a town in the Czech Republic were welcomed to King’s Lynn Town Hall on Wednesday 2 October.

The students, from Lepar Grammar School in Jicin, were hosted by Cllr Geoff Hipperson, Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk and given an in-depth tour of the town hall and Stories of Lynn.

Earlier in the day their head teacher and students were given a tour of Springwood High School by head teacher Andrew Johnson. Giving them a look at the UK education system, while also sharing how their system worked in the Czech Republic.

Cllr Geoff Hipperson, Mayor of King’s Lynn & West Norfolk, said: “I was delighted to welcome the students and their head teacher to the town hall. This is the second time in two years that the school has visited the town.

“I must also thank the volunteers who showed them around the town hall and Stories of Lynn, the students were overwhelmed by their enthusiasm and historical knowledge.”

The group were heading to Hunstanton after touring King’s Lynn. Their head teacher, Dana Hlavova, thanked the mayor, as well as the people of King’s Lynn and west Norfolk, for their hospitality and handed an invitation to our mayor from the mayor of Jicin to make a return visit in the future.
