Mods and Rockers Classic Scooter and Motorbike Meet returned to King’s Lynn for the fifth time on Sunday 11 August.
A full day of entertainment was presented by the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk in the Tuesday Market Place. The event has become popular with scooter and bike enthusiasts, along with fans of the clothes and music of the era. More bikers turned up this year, the first 100 to park up receiving a unique patch.
Event manager, Abbie Panks, said: "We extended the size of the bike area for this year and that was also filled so we saw an increase on last year's numbers which is very positive. We also had bikers travelling to King's Lynn for the event from Leicestershire, Nottingham and Essex."
Cllr Graham Middleton, borough council cabinet member for business development including events, said: "It was great to see such a large turnout of bikers and spectators. With great live music, food, drink and fashion to enjoy, as well as the vast array of bikes.”
The Groove Hounds, Revival and Skake Rattle Roll provided live music. DJ Sue Simper also played great rhythm and soul in-between the live acts. A voluntary collection for SERV emergency blood bikes was taken throughout the day.
Exhibitors and spectators were invited to judge the bikes, awarding prizes for the Best Motorbike, Best Scooter, Best Custom Bike, Best Custom Scooter and Best Oddity. The overall favourite wheeling away with the prize of People’s Choice. Winners are featured on the Mods & Rockers Facebook page.
