The borough council has shown its support for Armed Forces Week, which began on Monday June 24 June 2019.

It started with Armed Forces Flag Day. The Mayor was joined by children from Howard Junior School in Tower Gardens on Monday morning.

A highlight of the week was Reserves Day on Wednesday 26 June, also known as ‘Wear Your Uniform to Work Day’, the Reserve Forces make up about one sixth of our Armed Forces personal and are integral to protecting the nation's security at home and overseas.

The borough council encouraged reservists, cadet force adult volunteers and other Service personnel to don their uniforms, medals, caps or even regimental blazers for the day. Several members of staff joined in, including the two pictured above. Nathan Johnson, our Public Open Space Manager and John Hussey, Operations Manager (Streets).
