Much to enjoy across the school holidays

Following a festival filled July there is much more to look forward to in King’s Lynn, thanks to a series of free events supported by the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk.

Discover what it was like to live in King’s Lynn during the war with Forties Lynn on 21 July from 10am – 4pm. Organised by the Norfolk Museums Service, there will be activities in the Town Hall, Stories of Lynn, Lynn Museum and the Tuesday Market Place.

Eddie Seales’ Big Band will be playing swinging tunes to get your toes tapping. Sarah Mai will be playing 1940s songs, with interludes from Winston Churchill with some rousing speeches.

Folk in the Town returns to the Tuesday Market Place for a fourth year on 27 and 28 July. From 11:45am – 6pm each day sit back and enjoy two days of traditional folk, Americana, folk rock, bluegrass and everything in between.

Headlining the Sunday show will be Gentlemen of Few, a group who made it to the final three acts in the 2014 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards. Fans of folk and blues music, this six-piece have been writing and touring together for ten years and have been described by Chris Evans on the radio as: “So young, yet so amazing”.

Also performing this year will be the winners of the Showcase events that took place in King’s Lynn and Hunstanton. Each winner picked up a prize spot at Folk in the Town and £100. Local duo, Tabernacle Dusk, won in King’s Lynn and can’t wait to play on the main stage.

The bikes are back in town for Mods and Rockers Classic Scooter and Motorbike Meet on 11 August.

From 10am – 3pm in the Tuesday Market Place, whether you’re in to Lambrettas and Vespas or Triumphs and Harleys this should get your motor revving.

Entertainment this year includes live music from The Groove Hounds, Skarma will provide a spot of ska and rock ‘n’ roll from Shake Rattle Roll.

Throughout the day DJ Sue Simper will play rhythm and soul. It should be a great day out for the whole family.

The following week the Mini Meet returns, over 200 examples of this iconic car, both old and new, will be on display in the Tuesday Market Place.
