Folk in the Town returns for a fourth year to the Tuesday Market Place, King’s Lynn on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 July.

Two days of traditional folk, Americana, folk rock, bluegrass and everything in between – all live, all free. From 11:45am until 6pm each day.

Headlining the Sunday show will be Gentlemen of Few, a group who made it to the final three acts in the 2014 BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Awards. Fans of folk and blues music this four-piece have been writing and touring together for ten years.

Adrian Tebbutt, who organises the event on behalf of the council said: "So many artists wanted to take part this year, choosing the acts has been challenging. We have a good range of different types of music that will please a broad audience. There is a strong tradition of folk and acoustic music in the area so it's great to be able to highlight the talent in this way."

New for this year are two showcase events. Winners at each event get to perform on stage at Folk in the Town and win £100.

The first showcase event is being held during the Hanse Festival in King’s Lynn on 12 May. The second at the Bandstand on the Green in Hunstanton on 22 June.

Entries for the King's Lynn showcase are now closed, artists and groups can apply online for the Hunstanton showcase by submitting  samples of their work at www.west-norfolk.gov.uk/folkinthetown.

Adrian Tebbutt goes on to say: “We’re excited to introduce this new chance to perform on stage, with two spots available to the winners of our King’s Lynn and Hunstanton Showcase events, plus £100 each".
