Borough and parish council elections will take place on Thursday 2 May 2019.
To stand as a candidate:
The Notices of Election will be published on Monday 18 March 2019. Nomination papers must be received by the Returning Officer after that date and by 4pm on Wednesday 3 April 2019.
To vote in the elections:
If you are not registered, you will not be able to vote in these elections.
You can check to see if you are registered by contacting the electoral services team on 01553 616773.
If you need to register to vote, your application must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by Friday 12 April 2019. Registering is easy, just visit gov.uk/register-to-vote and follow the steps. You will need to provide your name, address, date of birth and national insurance number.
Unable to vote on the day:
If you are unable to vote in person on the day, you will need to apply for one of the following:
- Postal vote - new applications, or amendments to existing applications to vote by post or postal proxy must be received by 5pm on Monday 15 April 2019.
- Proxy vote - amendments to existing proxy votes must be received by 5pm on Monday 15 April 2019. New applications to vote by proxy must be received 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2019.
- Emergency proxy vote - the last day for receipt of emergency proxy vote applications on the grounds of disability or for work/service reasons (if the emergency did not exist at 5pm on Wednesday 24 April 2019) is 5pm on Thursday 2 May 2019.
Poll cards will be dispatched week commencing 18 March.
Postal votes for the borough council elections will be dispatched on Thursday 11 April 2019. Postal votes for parish council elections will be dispatched on Wednesday 17 April 2019.
Borough council postal votes will be slightly different to parish council postal votes. A video tutorial of what to do when your borough postal vote arrives will be made available on the borough council's website shortly. Visit west-norfolk.gov.uk/elections.
On the day of election, 2 May 2019, polling stations will be open from 7am to 10pm. A list of polling stations is available on the council's website.
