Great response to annual canvass

A closeup view of a Household Enquiry Form

Published: Thursday, 6th December 2018

Our annual canvass has ended, and over 98% of residents have responded.

Every home in the borough was sent a Household Enquiry Form, which details who is registered to vote at an address. Residents were asked to respond and confirm the information on the form was correct, or to make any necessary changes.

Residents could respond to the Household Enquiry Form by post, by text, by phone, or online. 30% of residents responded online: a higher rate than ever before.

Mary Colangelo, the borough council’s electoral services manager, said: “We’re very pleased with the result of the annual canvass: more people than ever before have responded electronically rather than posting back their form, which saves us time and money. We’d like to thank everyone who responded promptly and saved us having to send reminders or canvassers to make doorstop visits.”

The updated register of electors will be published on 1 February 2019.

There will be borough council and parish councils in King’s Lynn & West Norfolk in May 2019. Anyone who wishes to vote in these elections needs to ensure they are registered to vote beforehand, if they are not already. Registering to vote can be done quickly and easily online at gov.uk/registertovote
