West Norfolk Wins

Published: Friday, 29th June 2018

West Norfolk Wins has seen a winner of the £25,000 prize and a winner of the £2,000 in its the first five weeks, making it one of the luckiest local government lotteries in the country.

West Norfolk Wins was established by the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk to help local good causes raise funds, and launched on 26 May 2018. 54 good causes have signed up to the lottery, and if ticket sales continue at the current rate, around £40,000 will be raised for those good causes in the first year.

On Saturday, 23 June 2018, Mrs K of King's Lynn won the top prize of £25,000, having bought a ticket to support West Norfolk Deaf Association, and on 9 June Mrs B from King's Lynn won £2,000 having supported West Norfolk Mind. In total £27,375 has been awarded in prize money.

Cllr Elizabeth Nockolds, deputy leader of the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk and cabinet member for Culture Heritage and Health, said: "We are delighted with the interest the lottery has received. 54 good causes have signed up and are already benefiting from ticket sales which is excellent. I hope that many more people will now go online, search for a good cause close to their heart to support, and purchase a ticket knowing that they could also be in with a chance of winning a prize."

Tickets can be purchased, in blocks of 1 month to 12 months, at westnorfolkwins.co.uk. The lottery draw takes place every Saturday and the cut off for purchasing tickets is midnight on the Friday. 60p from every ticket sold goes to local good causes, 20p into the prize fund and the rest covers admin and VAT.
