Sedgeford Parish Council is starting to prepare a neighbourhood plan for Sedgeford. If successful, this will help shape development in the parish.

The neighbourhood plan would be used by the borough council, alongside its own plans, to inform decisions on planning applications in the parish.

The Parish Council has submitted an application to the borough council to have a ‘neighbourhood area’ designated, which is the first formal stage in the process of making a neighbourhood plan. The whole of Sedgeford parish is proposed to be included in the area, and subsequently, the neighbourhood plan.

Later in the process there will be consultations on the content of the emerging neighbourhood plan, but in the meantime the borough council will be consulting on the area application. The consultation will run for 6 weeks from 30 May 2016.

Anyone who wishes to comment on the area to be included in the designation must do so in writing by 5pm Monday 11 July 2016.

Comments can be submitted:

• Online - go to and click on current consultations.
• Email - to
• Post - to LDF Team, Borough Council of West Norfolk, King’s Court, Chapel Lane, King’s Lynn, PE30 1EX.

Queries about the area designation application and consultation can be made by email to, or by telephoning the Local Plan team on 01553 616816.

The neighbourhood plan will be prepared by Sedgeford Parish Council, and anyone that has suggestions about its contents or wishing to get involved should contact the Parish Clerk, John Ward.
