Further support for local businesses affected by COVID is here with Omicron grants of up to £6,000 for the hospitality and leisure sector.
The Borough Council of King’s Lynn and West Norfolk is administering the grants, which are aimed at businesses where social mixing is the primary motivation for customers.
The main scheme is limited to certain types of business so the borough council has created a discretionary fund: this aims to cater for those who operate in hospitality and leisure but fall outside the eligibility criteria for the main scheme.
Councillor Stuart Dark MBE, leader of the council, said:
“Restrictions on social mixing may have eased recently but we know businesses are still feeling the effects of the pandemic and we want to do all we can to help.
“The council has a fantastic track record in supporting businesses through the pandemic – we have already paid out more than 17,500 grants with a value of nearly £78million. This is another example of how we have used the funding available to maximum effect in order to meet local needs.
“We have created a discretionary fund within the main fund to take account of the economic picture in west Norfolk. That means we’re able to help a wider range of local businesses.
“If your business is in the leisure or hospitality and has been affected by the Omicron surge, please apply for help – we’re here for you.”
Grants of up to £6,000 are available, depending on the rateable value of the business. Applications close on 18 March and payments will be made by 31 March.
