Schemes offering extra financial help

The Government will be making additional cost of living payments for people on certain means-tested benefits, get more information about these payments and other types of help from the Government here.

Government budgeting loans can help you to pay for certain outgoings and can also help you to repay other loans. They are interest-free so you only pay back what you borrowed.

Locally, the Norfolk Assistance Scheme may be able to help if you can’t pay your living costs and meet the criteria or call 0344 800 8020.

The Government’s DWP Household Support Fund can be used to provide one-off help for people who are struggling to pay for household essentials, such as food, energy, essential clothing and some white goods.

You can’t apply for it yourself but you can ask to be referred by some voluntary organisations, community organisations, statutory providers such as your GP, social prescribers or mental health professionals. You can also ask for help from housing, income or other services within the council.
