Sunday 23 September
The revival of the Hunstanton Soap Box Derby continues! Last year’s re-introduction of the event (popular in the 1960s, 70s and 80s) received a marvellous response. It had 40 entries and was a super day for all the family, whether racing or spectating. Why not build your own kart to race in this year’s event and join in the fun?
Location and time
Starting point on Boston Square. The Event begins at 10am with entertainment on the Green, hosted by KLFM, as the carts undergo safety checks. Racing begins around noon and each team will make two timed runs down the same course as last year. Prize giving is expected at around 5pm with trophies awarded to the fastest junior teams, the fastest adult teams and the best looking/best decorated kart.
Teams may register a crew of up to four from which a maximum of two may occupy the kart as drivers. Each crew must have at least one member over 18. There are junior categories (10-12 years & 13-15 years) and adult categories (16+ and 65+) to enter. The detailed rules, including technical restrictions on the karts, can be found in our rules document, which will be available shortly. Please ensure you read them before entering.
Closing date for entries is 7 September, or when entry limit has been reached.
