How to apply for a resident parking permit, and information on permits for businesses and visitors
Permit parking scheme
We are developing a parking permit scheme for residents in the King's Lynn area. We're working alongside Norfolk County Council to implement this.
If your property falls within one of the resident parking zones, you'll be eligible for a permit.
The resident parking zones are:
- KR01 - Town Centre (not yet in operation)
- KR02 - South Quay and King's Staithe Square
- KR03 - Portland Street & Waterloo Street
- KR04 - Highgate & Eastgate Area
- KR06 - Springwood
The permit is for vehicles that will be parked on the street within the residents parking zone. A permit is not needed to park on your driveway.
Any resident with a vehicle registered at an address within one of the zones can apply for a permit. If your household has more than one vehicle registered to your address, both vehicles will need a permit to park on the street.
Motorbikes, mopeds and all powered two wheelers do not require a permit.
How to apply
The easiest way to apply is online. You can upload the required documentation with your application.
To apply for a resident parking permit you'll need:
- your vehicle registration number
- the vehicles DVLA registration document (the address on the DVLA document should match your permit application)
- a Council Tax bill or utility bill
- your tenancy agreement (if you rent)
Please note, no payment is required for the initial application. Once your application has been processed, you will be sent an offer letter with an application reference and pin number. You'll need to log-on using the details on the letter, accept our offer and make the payment.
If you have visitors to your property you may apply for a visitor permit to allow parking within the residents parking zone.
You may apply for one annual visitor permit or up to 365 'scratch cards' or virtual permits per property per year. However, if you have an annual visitor permit you will not be eligible for both. Once you have registered your details for virtual permits you can logon to purchase them as and when your visitors require them.
If you're unable to apply online, you can apply for 'scratch cards' using our scratch-card form. This can be found at the bottom of this page. Scratch-cards cost £1 a day and are sold in multiples of five. Each scratch card covers a 24 hour period.
If you are the principal occupier of a business in a resident parking area you may apply for the issue of a business permit for your vehicle. Only one annual business permit will be issued per property.
You may also apply for one annual visitor permit or up to 365 'scratch cards' or virtual permits per property per year. However, if you have an annual visitor permit you will not be eligible for both. Once you have registered your details for virtual permits you can logon to purchase them as and when your visitors require them.
- Resident and visitor annual - £40.00 each
- Business annual - £130.00 each
- Business visitor annual - £40.00 each
- Resident and business vouchers (scratch cards/virtual) - £1.00 per day
Blue badge holders
Home and business owners that have a valid blue badge are entitled to a free permit, one per property. You'll need to display the blue badge, along with the permit at all times.
If you have a company vehicle you'll need to supply a letter from your employer on letter headed paper confirming the details of the vehicle they have provided to you, and that it is for your sole use and kept at the property address.
