Local Plan Examination: hearings adjourned

Local Plan: Examination

Published: Wednesday, 11th January 2023

Hearings taking place as part of the Planning Inspectorate’s examination of the borough council’s new Local Plan have been adjourned.

Assistant Director for Planning, Stuart Ashworth, said:

“We would like to thank the planning inspectors for their careful consideration of the work we have already done in preparing the new Local Plan.

“Developing a Local Plan is a long and complex process. It is not unusual for independent inspectors to identify areas where they would like further evidence to be provided in support of a plan. In this case they have adjourned the hearings to give us an opportunity to provide further evidence for our spatial strategy and housing allocations.

“We look forward to receiving the inspectors’ letter setting out details of the additional evidence they require for us in order to continue with the hearings, which are an important part of the process of examining the plan.

“In the meantime there will be no impact on neighbourhood plans or the determination of planning applications.”
