Be quick to apply for Community Hot-Spots grants of £2,000

Norfolk Community Foundation

Published: Monday, 24th October 2022

Time is running out to apply for Community Hot-Spot grants. The deadline to apply is 26 October 2022. So far there have been 13 applications from west Norfolk based groups.

The £2,000 grants are available to contribute towards the cost of running or establishing a Community Hot-Spot that gives a warm welcome to the whole community, in particular reaching those who are vulnerable or have been impacted by the cost-of-living increases.

The borough council has provided an additional £50K to supplement a Norfolk County Council scheme being managed by the Norfolk Community Foundation that enables community groups to apply for funding for activities or events that will help people keep warm and well this winter.

By significantly 'topping up the pot' for west Norfolk, more will be available for funding such schemes right across the borough. Applications must be submitted through the Norfolk Community Foundation website.

Cllr Stuart Dark, MBE, Leader of the Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk, said:

"This kind of grass roots funding is vital, as local community leaders and community groups understand what their area needs. This funding should make a real difference."

The funding can be used to create a new Community Hot-Spot, a partnership with a venue in the local community, help towards an existing service like a parent and toddler group or increase the capacity of a service that is already provided.

Some of the examples of how the funding can be used include towards utility costs, transport to the venue, volunteer expenses, equipment to help the delivery of activities, providing free or subsidised refreshment or contributing towards hire costs.

Organisations have until noon this Wednesday to apply at norfolkfoundation.com/funding-support/grants/groups/community-hot-spot-fund.
