Nowhere to stay

If you’re worried you’ve got nowhere to stay tonight, please let us know. The earlier you let us know during the day, the more likely it is that you’ll be seen by a Housing Options Officer.

What happens next?

When you contact us, we’ll take the details of your situation to see how best we can help. We might ask you to show us proof of your circumstances, such as:

  • proof of income
  • bank statements
  • a notice to quit (if applicable)

Once we’ve assessed your details, we’ll contact you to give you an appointment with one of our Housing Options Officers. You can find out what to expect from your Housing Options appointment on our once you've told us you’re homeless page.

Out of hours

The out of hours service will operate:

  • Monday to Thursday - between 4:30pm and 9:00am.
  • Friday to Monday - between 4:30pm and 9:00am.
  • All public holidays including Christmas and New Year, plus the additional non-working days around the festive period.
  • Every third Thursday of the month between 9:00am and 1:00pm.

Getting housing

Depending on your circumstances, we’ll decide whether we can help arrange accommodation for you.

Many people believe that if they’re homeless they’ll be entitled to social housing. Unfortunately, not everyone is entitled to social housing, and the accommodation we help you with may be temporary accommodation.
