New Bin Collection Service
From 2 April 2013 the bin service in our borough will be changing.
From that date we will be moving to alternate weekly collections so your black wheelie bin will be collected one week, and your green recycling bin the next week.
We are also introducing a weekly collection of food waste from all homes in our area.
To see the journey that your food waste will take before it is turned into compost please have a look at our video:
Some collection days may change, but you will receive all the information you need, along with your new bin and food caddies between the middle of January and the end of March 2013.
Every black 140-litre bin will automatically be replaced with a new 240-litre bin, which is the same size as your current green recycling bin.
We are no longer able to register people that wish to keep their 140-litre bin, as the switch over has already begun throughout the borough.
For residents who struggle to move their rubbish and recycling bins on their own we offer an assisted lift service so that their bins are not missed during our collection rounds. There can be a number of reasons why a resident may not be able to move their bins including (although not exclusively) age or disability.
To request an assisted lift please contact us or complete an assisted bin collection eForm. Alternatively you may wish to contact us directly on 01553 782060 or via e-mail at email@example.com
The food waste collection service will take any food leftovers i.e. takeaways, vegetable peelings, dairy products & bones. It will be collected every week and turned into commercial quality compost.
We will be supplying you with an initial roll of 50 compostable bags to use in the caddy. Once these have been used, you will be able to buy more from any major supermarkets, through online retailers and from council offices and leisure centres.
It is really important that you do not use carrier bags in the caddies as they are not compostable. If carrier bags are found in the caddies, our crews will not be able to collect them.
The brown garden waste bin will continue to be collected every two weeks; if you have joined this paid for service.
If you live in an area that has black bag collections or in a communal property, not all changes will affect you. You will be able to find more information on this in our Frequently Asked Questions section.

If you register for our text alerts service, we will send you a text message the week your new bins are being delivered. This service will also keep you up to date on bank holiday collections and service disruptions.
