Swimming Pool

The Downham Market Leisure Centre swimming pool is 25 metres in length and 10.5 metres wide.  We offer facilities for all users.

The changing rooms are individual unisex cubicles although a number of larger changing cubicles are available for families.
Downham Market Leisure Centre is an approved training Centre for the Institute of Qualified Lifeguards and as members you can be sure our staff are trained to the highest standard.

Child Admission Policy


The following guidelines must be adhered to at all times:

  • No children under the age of 8 years of age are permitted into the pool unless accompanied by a responsible adult (over 16 years) who must stay with the children at all times.

  • The ratio to under 8's allowed in the water is one adult to two children. The ratio to under 4's allowed in the water is one adult to one child, unless children are wearing BS, EN or Kite Marked Arm Bands or Buoyancy Jackets in which two children may be accompanied by only one adult.

Swimming Lessons


Downham Market Leisure Centre's Swim Academy offers a wide range of swimming lessons (pdf 656kb) from Non Swimmers through to Rookie Lifesaving including Adult Swimming Lessons.  We also offer one-2-one swimming lessons (pdf 340kb) for all abilities.


Register your interest in swimming lessons provided at the centre and a member of staff will contact you when spaces become available on your chosen course.
