Mayor's Business Awards
Mayor’s Business Awards are the borough council’s way of publicly acknowledging outstanding business achievement and the contribution that businesses make to the West Norfolk economy.
Established in 1989, by former mayor Cllr Les Daubney, the awards publicly recognise the achievements of local businesses and provide them with the perfect opportunity to showcase their success. This year we have joined forces with the Lynn News to make the awards bigger and better than ever.
Whatever the size of your business, if you think you have a success story to share, we’d love to hear from you. So whether you’ve expanded your business, developed a new product, excelled at training and developing your staff, conquered new markets or focussed on your exceptional green credentials, this is your time to shine. These awards are free to enter. All you have to do is tell us what you’ve achieved.
The Borough Council is working in partnership with the Lynn News to host the Mayor's Business Awards. In addition to supporting the overall awards, the council is sponsoring the Mayor’s Business of the Year Award. This prestigious award will acknowledge businesses that have made a noteworthy achievement during the last year or during a period culminating in the last year.
There are nine categories to enter this year and you can enter as many as you like:
- Mayor's Business of the Year Award
- Service With a Smile (reader nominations/reader vote)
- Apprentice/Trainee of the Year
- Customer Care
- Community Contribution
- Independent Retailer
- Leisure & Tourism
- Small Growing Business (for up to five years)
- Business Person of the Year
Borough Mayor, Cllr Elizabeth Watson, said “We are proud of our diverse businesses in the borough and our wish is always to support and encourage them to further success.
"I am delighted that we are working with the Lynn News on this year’s Business Awards. There are more categories to choose from and together we’ll be encouraging business to nominate themselves in the appropriate categories.
“Promoting our local businesses is very important and past winners have found the publicity and acknowledgement that comes with winning one of these awards to be very beneficial.”
Entries for the 2013 Mayor's Business Awards in association with the Lynn News have now closed. The Service With a Smile will be a Lynn News reader nominated award - see www.lynnnews.co.uk for more details.
