Grants and Funding for Sport

The Borough Council aims to assist in the development of sport by making funds available to local clubs, organisations and individuals.

Training Costs for Talented Sports People (pdf 45 KB) - Do you represent a county squad or participate in your sport at high level?  If the answer is yes this may cost you a lot of money; we maybe able to help.

Coach Education Grant (pdf 55 KB) - Training to be a qualified sports coach is often expensive and deserves support.  Grants are available to clubs to organise Governing Body award courses and to individuals wishing to attend Governing Body Coach award courses (similar help is available to people qualifying as officials).

Rural Transport Funding (Word Doc) - Grants are available to assist groups to access sporting opportunities within the borough in circumstances where transport is a barrier to participation. Please phone the Sports Development Unit to see if you are eligible for a transport grant on 01553 818017.

West Norfolk Sports Council - Small Grants for Sports Development (pdf 45 KB) - Grants are available to clubs and organisations in West Norfolk of up to £350 for schemes or projects which develop sport.  Applications must demonstrate that they are 'developmental' in nature, that they aim to lead to an increase in participation in sport and that sustainability has been considered.  These grants are also available to provide Olympic-inspired sports activities.

To qualify for a grant, groups must demonstrate that their event offers local people a chance to engage in sport or activity and that it has the possibility of encouraging people to make long term changes to their lifestyle.

Sports Development Plan Scheme - In conjunction with West Norfolk Sports Council, the development scheme is set up to assist clubs who play on a regular basis at Borough Council sports facilities with the cost of facility hire. If you are a club download the Sports Development Plan 2013-14 (pdf 39 KB) front page and Sports Development Plan 2013 - 14 blank form (pdf 718 KB) here.
