Beach Safety

Be safe while visiting West Norfolk's beaches and coastline.  Follow the safety tips below.
Some Safety Tips:
  • Black-and-white chequered flag indicate an area of water for use by water craft. DO NOT swim or bathe in this zone.
  • Children's inflatables should always have a line connected, held securely by an adult on the shore.
  • Always check the tide before you enter the water.

Remember to protect yourself against the sun's ray:

'Slip - Slap - Slop'

  • Slip on a shirt
  • Slap on a hat
  • Slop on sunscreen
Beach Patrol hutBorough Council Safety Services
King's Lynn & West Norfolk Borough Council's resort services team provide a range of services for the safety, enjoyment and welfare of visitors to Hunstanton and Heacham Beaches during the summer season.  They provide;
  • A beach patrol service on the south prom at Hunstanton
  • Beach office next to the Oasis Leisure Centre 
  • First aid and a lost child service.
