Swimming Pool
The swimming pool replaced the old pool which was on the Memorial Field, Lynn Road. It was built in the 1960's and originally was an open air pool before a roof was added.
 
The Swimming Pool is a 25m x 10.5m wide deck level pool that offers suitable facilities for all users.

The majority of changing facilities are individual cubicles although there are a number of larger changing cubicles for families. These contain specific equipment  including a play pen and baby changing units.
 
Downham Market Leisure Centre is the home of West Norfolk Swimming Club who compete at Local, County, District and National levels.
 
Downham Market Leisure Centre is an approved training Centre for the Institute of Qualified Lifeguards and as members you can be sure that our staff are trained to the highest standard.

The pool programme has been designed to provide for the needs and requirements of the local community including a variety of different sessions catering for all age groups.

Swimming lessons

 

Downham Market Leisure Centre's Swim Academy is based at Downham Market Leisure Centre. The programme boasts an extensive range of Swimming Lessons from Non Swimmers through to Rookie Lifesaving including Adult Swimming Lessons.

 

The Centre's instructors are all ASA or STA qualified and combined have over 80 years of teaching experience. This experience alongside the state of the art pool means that the Centre can provide a comprehensive and complete swimming experience.
 

Child Admission Policy

 

The following guidelines must be adhered to at all times:

  • No children under the age of 8 years of age are permitted into the pool unless accompanied by a responsible adult (over 16 years) who must stay with the children at all times.
  • The ratio to under 8's allowed in the water is 1 adult to 2 children. The ratio to under 4's allowed in the water is 1 adult to 1 child, unless the children are wearing BS, EN or Kite Marked Arm Bands or Buoyancy Jackets in which case 2 children may be accompanied by only 1 adult.
