Top Tips When Making Bids
In order to give yourself the best chance of gaining your chosen property, please follow these top tips when making a bid.
Adverts are now weekly rather than fortnightly.
You can make your bids from the Wednesday of the week of the Homechoice advert
Bids can be made up until 12 noon on the Monday following the advert.
If you have made a successful bid for a property contained in a previous advert you will be unable to make any new bids until Homechoice has been informed by the Housing Association that you wish to refuse the property.
Before making any bids you should make sure that the location of the property is suitable. Is there a bus service? Is there a school or doctor's surgery nearby? Can I afford the rent? If you are on Housing Benefit, please be aware about Important Changes to Housing Benefit (pdf 38Kb)
Check out the location on a map. What floor is the property on if it's a flat or maisonette, will you be able to manage the stairs if there is no lift?
Remember if you refuse three offers of accommodation without good cause, your housing need band may be reduced to Low for a period of 12 months.
If your bid is successful Homechoice will write to you by Saturday to let you know.
Please do not telephone Homechoice to enquire if you have made a successful bid, as we will not be able to tell you. This is because we do not have the resources to help everybody with this information; most weeks several hundred bids will have been received. |
