Let's Get Active

Borough Council along with key partner organisations have launched the campaign to get people in West Norfolk enjoying the benefits of an active, healthy lifestyle.

The campaign has been developed following recent research of activity levels in West Norfolk. Research shows that here in West Norfolk we're below the national average when it comes to getting regular exercise and taking part in sport.

Nationally 21% of the population take part in 'moderate intensity' activity three times a week. In West Norfolk the figure is just over 18%.

Over half of West Norfolk residents - and nearly three in five women - don't do any form of regular exercise.

The Borough Council's Directory of Sport is being updated to give contact details for dozens of local clubs and associations - and special events are being planned to inspire people to improve their fitness. As well as cycling, running and team sports initiatives there are also plans in the pipeline to establish basketball and women's running clubs in the area.

£140,000 has been pledged by local partners and the National Lottery towards the campaign - some of which will be specifically aimed at older people.
