This page provides useful information about crime prevention.

You can greatly reduce the chances of yourself or your family becoming a victim of crime by taking some simple precautions to safeguard yourselves and your property.

Crime Prevention in your Local Area

For free information or crime survey contact the Community Safety Team at Kings Lynn Police Station 01553 691211.

Alternatively you can visit the Norfolk Constabulary website where you can find out what's happening in your area plus you can print off and fill in your own crime prevention survey.

For general crime prevention information visit the government's Crime Reduction website.

To find out about approved security products visit the Sold Secure website.

If someone should enter your premises you are able to use reasonable force to protect yourself and your family.  For further guidance please see the attached leaflet entitled 'Householders and the Use of Force Against Intruders'.

Personal Safety

Be alert, look out for yourself. For tips on personal safety visit the Suzy Lamplugh Trust website.

Homewatch

If you wish to find out if your home is in a Homewatch area, or you are interested in joining or setting up a Homewatch scheme, you can contact the Homewatch Co-ordinator on 01553 776447.

You can also visit the Norfolk Homewatch website or the Neighbourhood Watch website to find out more.

Reporting Crime

You should always report any crime to the police to ensure that all crimes are adequately recorded, even if you do not expect the police to attend or do not wish to make an insurance claim.  You can obtain more information from our leaflet 'Crime and Your Community'.

This will assist in putting available resources where they are really needed.

If you have been a victim and feel that you need someone to talk to or you need to know what to do next, visit the Victim Support website where trained volunteers can offer help and support.

If you witness criminal activity, including drug dealing you should inform the police or you can contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 where your call will not be recorded and you will not be asked for any personal details. In addition you may be able to claim a reward. Alternatively visit the Crimestoppers website.

In an emergency call 999.

For all non-emergencies you can call Norfolk Police on 0845 456 4567.
