Tales of the Old Gaol House
Let your imagination run riot as your personal stereo guide
takes you through King's Lynn's 1930s police station and into the
old cells beyond, where smugglers caught by the revenue men of the
Custom House would be thrown.
You can meet a drunken teddy boy locked up for the night, and
hear the true stories of the town's highwaymen, murderers and
robbers. You can hear the sounds and smell the smells of prison
life two centuries ago, and see how it feels to be locked up in a
dank cell or trapped in the stocks in the town's market
square.
Your guide describes how
'witches' were identified and punished, and you can hear the crowds
shout as one poor woman is captured to be taken to her fate! Enjoy
an atmospheric visit with the sounds and smells of prison life two
centuries ago at the Old Gaol House.Regalia Rooms
