Castle Acre Priory
The priory at Castle Acre was founded by William de
Warenne of France, having been inspired by the Abbey of Cluny in
Burgundy.Explore Britain's best preserved Cluniac priory set at the far
end of the beautiful Norfolk village of Castle Acre. Discover
the cloister, refectory and chapter house and appreciate the
church's superb Norman facade using our new audio tour.
Imagine living the life of a monk as you explore this
extensive priory, including the ruins of the ale house and the
monk's toilet! Take time to explore the mighty earthworks,
enjoy the views from the leaded windows of the Priory's lodge and
visit the recreated herb garden with medicinal plants.
